This stone occurs in the Pilbara region of Western Australia southwest of the iron ore mining town of Newman.
It occurs as a single vein generally no thicker than 250 mm that cross cuts the Weeli Wolli Formation,
a banded iron-formation (commonly jaspilitic)which is also intruded by metadoleritic sills.
The quartz, epidote, axinite mineralisation was evidently caused by hydrothermal activity related
to one of the above mentioned dolerite sills which is in close proximity to the occurrence.
